TPC Radiology Contact and Communication Protocol
Critical Findings Result Communication Protocol
- Radiologist to call TPC Ordering Provider at 503-221-0161 option 9 (priority queue for providers) and state, “Critical Finding for ordering provider name.” Non-TPC provider: Please contact their office directly.
- Call will be transferred to the appropriate Provider, MA or RN to receive verbal critical finding results.
- The RN or MA receiving result must provide reading radiologist with last name to meet JCAHO requirements.
- will follow established nursing triage protocols.
- MA will document receipt of information to provide to Ordering Provider or On-call Provider.
- MA/RN must make sure critical results are acknowledged by the provider within 30 minutes of receiving the result. *Critical results must be communicated VERBALLY and are not to be communicated via in basket message.
- After hours call will be answered by answering service. They will try to connect the call or document the call and contact on-call provider.
